Supporting Caregivers of Children with OPWDD Eligibility

Caring for a child with special needs is a rewarding journey, but it can also be overwhelming. As a caregiver, it’s essential to take time for yourself to recharge and prevent burnout. That’s where MHA’s Respite Reimbursement Program can help!

What is Respite Reimbursement?

MHA provides reimbursement for respite services to families who have a child with OPWDD (Office for People With Developmental Disabilities) eligibility but no waiver. This program allows parents and guardians to take a break while ensuring their child receives quality care in a safe environment.

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for respite reimbursement, families must:

Have a child with OPWDD eligibility
Not currently receive an OPWDD waiver
Live in Orange County, NY
Use an approved respite provider (family members may not be reimbursed)

How Does Reimbursement Work?

Pre-Approval: Contact MHA to confirm eligibility and receive pre-approval.
Arrange Respite Care: Select an approved respite provider.
Submit Receipts: After the respite service is provided, submit proof of payment and required documentation.
Receive Reimbursement: Approved families will receive reimbursement based on program guidelines.

Employee Access, Training and Expectations -- Our organization values, ethical standards, policies and practices are committed to the protection of user information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information, and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes and transactions.
How Can You Access and Correct Your Information? You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in our database by emailing us using the contact form provided to you within the site structure of our website.
Do We Disclose Information to Outside Parties? We may provide aggregate information about our customers, sales, website traffic patterns and related website information to our affiliates or reputable third parties, but this information will not include personally identifying data, except as otherwise provided in this privacy policy.
